Some exciting stuff!

There are some exciting things happening in moolta.

We’re about to present a new discovery tool for the activities you can do to support causes you care about.

We are working with hundreds of service providers and charities, and by connecting them to our amazing users, we offer a huge variety of activities – from skydiving for breast cancer to volunteering at a zoo.

Image In order to present you with the best results possible that will match your interests, skills and the things that you care about, we crafted a nifty algorithm that takes all of the above into consideration and shoots out a beautiful list of activities you can do right now for the most noble causes on earth.

And… You can even start a fundraiser for those activities in the same way you could create challenges.

Now that’s innovation!

Check out the new tool at Moolta.com

The art of a FAIL

Obviously we want every challenge to succeed, but on occasion, a hilarious fail is born providing laughs to all of those who see it. So, today we would like to offer you the very best in FAILS. The art of a fail is truly hysterical and we hope it puts a smile on your face.

Turning Gaming Into Giving

Moolta and others bring gaming to charitable giving

Finally, it’s fun to give. In the past, supporting your favorite charity meant volunteering your money, services or other resources. Today, you can do some of your favorite activities to support cause you like.

As you know, moolta allows you to raise money for charity while pushing your limits of challenges and fun. From eating challenges to athletic challenges, and everything in between, the crazier you get the more money you can raise for charity! Others have found entertaining ways to support their causes through entertainment as well.

Free rice tests your trivia skills for charity!

Free Rice 2.0

Freerice.com is perfect for those who enjoy testing their wits with a good game of trivia. The object of the game is to answer as many questions as you can. For each question that you answer, 10 grains of rice are donated to hungry people for free. You can answer as many questions as you want as well so there is no limit to how much you can give. Free Rice even lets you pick what subject matter you want including Humanities, English, Math, Chemistry, Language Learning, Geography, Sciences and even SAT Test Preparation. You can come to donate or you can come to learn, but whether you like it or not you’re going to leave having done both. The website even has a leaderboard to track who has donated the most rice, and currently the leading contributor has 61,290,000 grains of rice donated.

Zynga sold special charitable products on Farmville

Zynga

Game developer, Zynga, raised $1.5 million for Haiti relief efforts following the devastating earthquake. Through their popular games, Farmville and Mafia Wars, they sold special, limited time products that benefited their charitable efforts. Game users worldwide were able to conduct their normal gaming procedures while being able to lend a helping hand to those in need in Haiti.

Playmob is another company that focuses solely on this type of charitable giving. Their product, GiverBoard, is used to raise charitable funds in games like The Sims Social.

Other websites do not directly raise money for charities, but still manage to include gaming in raising awareness for good causes.

Reality Drop is an activists tool that help spread the truth about global warming while making it game-like.

Reality Drop

Al Gore continues his efforts to raise awareness for global warming through this new online gamification effort. Reality Drop provides you the tools you need to “reveal the denial and deception around climate change, spread the truth, and clear the way toward real solutions.” The website not only provides you info to share with others about global warming, but it tracks how many times and what information you share.

Gaming has played a huge impact on our lives and now it’s time to make sure it has an impact on other peoples lives as well. Get started today, entertain yourself to support a charity. Get on moolta and start a challenge, raise money for something you care about. Get out there and make a difference while having fun!

Walk across america for charityInspired by the Month of April, Autism Awareness month and the work I did with Eric Armstrong I thought it would be a good idea to give something back to those in need.  Please check it out and spread the word. Everyone has known a child in need weather it be a friend, a family member, or even themselves who has struggled. UNICEF works towards protecting every child – so why not start helping them now. I’m daring myself to walk across the United States to rase money to charity. If enough money is raised in time – I will document the process by creating a documentary about my journey to raise awareness.  So now – I’m daring you to donate!

Top 10 Most Bizarre Charities

Give a homeless man on the street corner or take them out to lunch, congratulations, you’re a philanthropist. Eating finger-food with toes, congratulations, you’re bizarre. If you hold a public “Eating finger-food with your feet” contest where the box office profit goes towards feeding homeless people, you’re a little bit odd. Continue reading

Fraternities and Sororities around the country take part in charitable philanthropies

Members of the Sigma Nu fraternity and Alpha Chi Omega sorority collect canned goods for a food drive.

Everybody knows the common fraternity stereotypes… lots of drinking, lots of partying, and lots of tools. While we can’t disagree with any of these and fraternity brothers probably wouldn’t either, we should all agree that members of fraternities and sororities Continue reading

Ideas for Creative Challenges

The challenge to get on stage at a concert dressed in a chicken costume.

The challenge to get on stage at a concert dressed in a chicken costume.

Everybody has a little bit of challenge in them. If you don’t think that you do, then you just don’t know it yet. It’s human nature to push yourself to do challenging things. If you haven’t found anything that stirs your interest, then we are here to help you come up with some awesome challenge ideas!

Every day, we read tons of feedback from our fans and a common theme seems to be that they can’t think of interesting things to do. This happens for several reasons, one being the location of the moolta user.

Jane from Iowa writes to us:

“I see all of these awesome challenges on moolta, like the dress like a chicken and get on stage at a concert challenge, and I want to do things like this but I’m from a small farm town and we don’t have those kinds of things here! HELP ME COME UP WITH CHALLENGES TO DO!!!”

Well Jane, we appreciate your spirit and willingness to do challenges and here is the main piece of advice we have to offer for you in your current situation:

  • Take advantage of your surroundings! You’re from a farm town; so do farm related challenges. If you have horses, try jousting your friends with water balloons instead of swords. If you have cows, try drinking straight from their utters. If you have pigs, try eating their food with them (with no hands of course). You see Jane, there are challenges everywhere, you just have to adapt to your surroundings. We are looking forward to your next challenge.

Other users have trouble finding the right range of difficulty for their challenges.

Matt from Florida writes to us:

“As much as I love watching some of the crazier challenges you guys have on moolta, no matter how much money I could make I wouldn’t be insane enough to do them. You guys should give users easier challenges.”

Thanks for the advice Matt! At moolta we don’t believe that you have to be crazy to complete cool challenges… there are challenges of all kinds for any type of person.  Try doing the following:

  • Check out the idea generator on our create a challenge page (the link is at the top right of our moolta dashboard. The generator is filled with challenges of all difficulty levels. If you still can’t find anything that you like then be creative. If you like music, try playing your favorite song on the piano… using your feet! If you like sports, try to make a bunch of trick basketball shots. Challenges don’t have to be difficult or dangerous, they just have to appeal to a certain audience. Do what you like to do and make it interesting.

The main point is that there is no reason to struggle with challenge ideas. Challenges can be ANYTHING! Easy or hard, dangerous or delightful… As long as you appreciate it, others will too. So go get out there and make challenges! Don’t let anything stop you.

Big Business Giving Back

Every now and then we like to take a quick break from our fun and crazy challenges to acknowledge all the other companies out there that are fighting for corporate social goodness alongside moolta. In a world filled with big business, greed and corporate irresponsibility, a few companies stand out and shine amongst the rest as honorable ventures always looking to give back.

As you already know, moolta raises money for charities. We take pride in helping those in need and cherish everything we do for the organizations that benefit from our work. Here is a list of three other companies who also give back and the different ways they go about doing so:

TOMS

For a company who claims that giving is part of their DNA, TOMS sure lives up to it. TOMS sells shoes, eyewear and apparel, all made from sustainable and vegan materials… even the box is 80% recycled material! But more importantly, for every pair of shoes you buy from TOMS, another pair is donated to somebody in need in poor areas around the world. The company is currently running a giving campaign as well. “Ticket To Give” is a way for TOMS to send 50 people on trips to different parts of the world to give shoes to those who need and chronicle the events. You can even enter to be one of the 50 who take a trip! If you would like to sign up or are interested in learning more, check out the Ticket To Give website here: Ticket To Give

Pepsi

Pepsi launched their “Pepsi Refresh” project as recently as the Super Bowl, but they have managed to make great contributions to society in that time. Pepsi Refresh is a community based around Pepsi where customers can communicate with the brand. Customers can vote on which charity they want Pepsi to support, what contributions they want Pepsi to make to society, and even what fundraising events Pepsi should have. The community is the perfect mix of modern social media, corporate responsibility, and fun! To check out the site for yourself, follow this link: Pepsi Refresh

Wear The Fund

One of our favorite young companies today is Wear The Fund and it’s not because they were also first launched at the University of Florida. Wear The Fund is not only the epitome of corporate responsibility, but the whole brand is based on it. When you purchase a trendy and original article of clothing from Wear The Fund, 20% of your bill goes to one of six charities and the choice is yours! Customers currently get to choose between the Jack & Jill Foundation, Ronald McDonald House Charities, Big Hearts For Big Dogs Rescue, Kiwanis International, The Alzheimer’s Association and Tabarinni. Finally, you can go on that big shopping spree and not feel guilty at the end of it. Check out the Wear The Fund website to learn more about the company and buy your first Wear The Fund shirt!
